Recommitment Ceremony for Membership

The following are sample opening and closing prayers for the first meeting of the term. Feel free to adjust and customize to meet your needs. Having soft music in the background enhances the time of prayer. It is also a nice idea to have officers and members light candles as they read their pledge.

Opening Prayer
Leader:
Heavenly Father, help us to come into your presence and to realize that you are here. We put all of our worries, all of our concerns, our fears, and our fatigue into your hands, and we trust in your love and in your mercy. Trusting that all those we love are in your hands, we dedicate this CDA year to you. Open our ears that we may hear you. Fill us with the gift of your Holy Spirit—the Spirit of Wisdom, the Spirit of Knowledge. Help us as we prepare to fulfill the jobs to which You have called us. We recognize in the offices that we hold the opportunity to do your will, and we offer this time of service to you. Come, Lord Jesus.

Treasurer:
I ask for the grace to serve accurately. Help me to remember that I am entrusted with the funds that will be used to complete the tasks to which you have called us. I promise to serve diligently.

Financial Secretary:
I ask for the grace to serve diplomatically. Help me to remember that I am entrusted with maintaining the membership of our court. Help me to be mindful of our sisters who are ill and need the help of the court. I promise to serve cheerfully.

Recording Secretary:
I ask for the grace to serve generously. Help me to remember that I am entrusted with the permanent record of our court’s life. Grant me the time to prepare our minutes completely. I promise to serve faithfully.

Vice Regent:
I ask for the grace to serve whole-heartedly. Help me to remember that I am called to use my gifts in a wide variety of tasks that will help our court to fulfill its goals. Grant me the spirit of openness to God’s plan for my service to the court. I promise to serve joyfully.

Regent:
I ask for the grace to serve bravely. Help me to lead with compassion and with gentleness as I help our members to know, to love, and to serve you. I promise to serve boldly.

Members:
Father, we offer our hearts, our minds, and our hands to you. Use us, Lord, to bring about your kingdom on earth. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord. Amen

Closing Prayer
Leader:
Father, we thank you for the time we have had today (this evening) to work and plan together so that we can better serve you throughout the coming term. As sisters in Christ, we ask for your blessing and your help as we strive to use our gifts for you.
